2023 street survey

On August 30th, the Catholic Action Center partnered with the Central Ky Housing and Homelessness Initiative (CKHHI) and the Street Voice Council to conduct the 2023 Street Survey. The purpose was to get a broader look at the current situation of homelessness in Lexington; the survey included those who are left out of the annual HUD count (i.e. hospitals, detention centers, treatment programs, couch-surfers). Teams of trained community volunteers, Street Voice Council members and the Sheriff’s Department conducted surveys between 9:00am and 11:30pm meeting our brothers and sisters who live outside in camps, in their cars, in abandoned buildings or are doubled up.

Volunteers also contacted 43 agencies including hospitals, schools, the detention center, treatment centers, and shelters to get the number of people experiencing homelessness in their programs.
